In 2010, the Independent Living
Program served over 200 individuals. Case management and housing
support services keep individuals with serious and persistent mental
illnesses and chemical addictions, and their families, stable in the
community. Only 6% of clients served were hospitalized in 2010
and 94% were able to return to their own apartment following
hospitalization. 63% of the clients discharged were involved in employment, education, or
training during their admission to the program.
The average monthly cost of $545
per person for housing and case management services is less than one psychiatric
emergency room visit.
