In 2009, the Independent Living Program served 245 individuals.  Case management and housing support services keep individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses and chemical addictions, and their families, stable in the community.  Only 9% of clients served were hospitalized in 2009 and 85% were able to return to their own apartment following hospitalization.  35% of clients in the program are  involved in employment, education, or training.

The average monthly cost of $545 per person for housing and case management services is less than one psychiatric emergency room visit.
